Speakers:

Erik Reinert – Professor at Norwegian Institute of Strategic Studies, Professor of Development Strategies at Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia and heads The Other Canon Foundation in Norway. His bestselling book “How rich countries got rich...and why poor countries stay poor” has been published in 18 languages.

Arturo Bris – Professor of Finance at IMD (International Institute for Management Development), Director of IMD World Competitiveness Center.

Moderator:

Volodymyr Panchenko – Chief Research Officer at Center for Market Economy Development

The event will bring together those who strive to transform Ukrainian economy, understand the importance of a clear development strategy for Ukraine, and support the idea of leaders’ responsibility for reforms.

Public Talk speakers will share ideas with participants regarding views on the following topics:

- How the poor country gets rich: economic aspects and examples from international practice;

- Protectionism and neo-protectionism as a tool for the implementation of a national economic growth policy;

- Strategic planning: not just moving ahead but knowing where to go;

- Leadership in the context of state development and personal responsibility as the key to successful reforms;

- Country’s competitiveness, tools and ways of development.

Participants will have the opportunity to join the discussion on these topics, ask the speakers and meet them personally in more informal ways and have a chance to talk over a cup of coffee.
